Youth Connections recently introduced a new approach to our work, aiming to create deeper connections and stronger collaborations. As you may know, Youth Connections not only works one-on-one with teens and young adults, but also partners with schools throughout the Metro South/West area of Massachusetts.
Through our ongoing collaborations with these schools, we’ve come to realize that each institution has its own unique way of running programs. We believe there’s a real opportunity for these schools to connect, share insights, and discuss ways to enhance youth success across the board.
That’s where we come in. Youth Connections has launched monthly Connecting Activities meetings, designed to bring together faculty members from various schools across Massachusetts. These meetings provide a platform to address common challenges, explore new opportunities, and brainstorm strategies for improving outcomes for both faculty and students.
On October 31st, we held our inaugural meeting, where attendees shared breakfast, discussed their best and worst-case scenarios, and explored ideas for fostering meaningful growth in both our partnerships and the broader school community.
We were thrilled with the outcome of our first meeting, which brought together over 15 representatives from different schools, all eager to collaborate and share their experiences. It was an exciting start, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the months to come!
In our upcoming meetings, we plan to explore a wide range of topics, including internships, field trips, system challenges, career fairs, and the unique dynamics of working within Massachusetts schools, along with many other relevant subjects.
One of the best features of these convenings is that the topics are entirely driven by the attendees. We maintain an open and flexible approach, genuinely committed to supporting faculty members in whatever areas they feel are most important. In addition to the meetings, we’ve also created a shared group board for attendees, which serves as a hub for valuable information, including— but not limited to— local student affairs, internship and job opportunities for youth, upcoming events, and other useful resources.
